The recruitment process
Not all vacancies are advertised in the press, the best applicants aren’t always looking for a new job. At Smiths Recruitment we use a range of recruitment methods that include internet advertising, newspapers, word of mouth, head hunting and resume search.
Interviews
Our candidates are naturally of the utmost importance to our business and; as such, we treat all of our applicants accordingly. Concise registration forms combined with personal one-on-one interviews make it easier to get a complete picture of work history and career orientation. Our well located offices have ample parking, ensuring easy access for interviews and registration to make the job of finding a job that much easier.
After interview
Once you are registered with Smiths Recruitment, we will continue to work with you until we place you in your ideal position - keeping you fully informed throughout each step of the recruitment process.
At no time will your details be submitted to a client without your prior approval. Your application remains confidential and you will only be put forward for a position if you have a genuine interest in the role.
Temporary work
Time sheets are, in the majority of cases, the way that we record, authorise and effect payment of our Temporary and Contract staff. Time sheets must be completed in full showing the actual hours worked and any breaks taken. At the end of each week the Temporary employee must pass it to their supervisor for signature. Dependent on the instructions given to you by the Smiths consultant/manager, you will either leave it with your supervisor for collection, post or fax it to our office. Time sheet completion is essential because without it your pay cannot be calculated.
We normally pay our employees weekly by electronic funds transfer, directly into their nominated bank account. Pay will usually be in your account by midnight on Wednesday of each period unless any of the proceeding days is a Public Holiday in which case it will be in your account by midnight on Thursday. In some instances where the employee operates a Building Society or Credit Union account the transaction may take an extra day to reach the account.
You are paid for the number of hours worked. Employees are hired as casual employees and are therefore not entitled to holiday pay or pay for Public Holidays unless they work on those days. Casual employees are also not entitled to sick leave. We generally pay in accordance within the Award or Enterprise agreement that operates at the Client Company, where this applies and is appropriate. Pay queries need to be addressed with the Smith payroll department.
